AI Overview (AIO) : Google’s generated answer box that cites sources. Presence is not guaranteed; eligibility improves with clear, citable references.
Answer engine : Any system that synthesizes an answer and cites sources (e.g., Perplexity, ChatGPT w/ browsing).
Canonical reference : The single, preferred source for a definition, spec, or constraint.
Entity : A distinct thing a model can reason about: organization, product, standard, attribute.
Knowledge graph : A structured data store linking entities and their relationships.
Quotability : The ease with which a short passage can be copied into an answer with correct context and attribution.
