Handling part numbers & MPN
Align internal SKUs, MPNs, and distributor IDs so engines can attribute correctly.
Updated 2026-09-29
Rules of thumb:
- Publish the canonical manufacturer part number (MPN) and map internal SKUs to it.
- Normalize formatting (dashes, spaces, case) and publish an “equivalents” table if needed.
- Prefer a single canonical product page per family; use anchors for variants.
- Mark distributor part numbers as such; avoid presenting them as primary IDs.
Clear ID alignment reduces reseller outranking and improves citation accuracy.
